How It Works: Home Battery Backup
The Tesla Powerwall 2 battery is a revolutionary product that allows a person to be completely energy independent from the electric grid. It can serve as partial home backup for dedicated loads (appliances). It can also serve as a full home backup and store enough energy to power up the loads (or appliances) when the sun is not out.
Simply put, the solar panels produce electricity during the day, which gets stored in the Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries, and is consumed at night. This allows a person to be completely self-reliant and not have to purchase any power from the grid! Tesla Powerwall 2 is the ideal solution for hurricane-prone areas, such as the Florida Keys, because it provides a clean solution to energy problems when the grid is down due to hurricanes or storms. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to generators!
A Tesla electrician and Tesla Certified Installer can help you determine what your ideal battery backup is. For a long time, we did not have the technology to power up heavy, mechanical loads, such as AC units and dryers/washers, but Tesla Powerwall 2 technologies allow its user to power up whatever they want. Whether you NEED certain loads to be functional at all times, or you want the comfort of knowing that your AC will work all year-round, you can sleep with the peace of mind that Tesla Powerwall will keep everything running!

How It Works: Electric vehicle charging
Level 1 is 120 volts, which is the standard household plug. Depending on the battery capacity, an all-electric car can require as much as a full day or more to go from depleted to fully charged. This comes standard with your new Tesla and no additional work is generally needed.
The next step up, Level 2 which uses 240 volts. Similar to an electric dryer outlet it’s the most common level used. This level comes standard with your new Tesla car, but typically requires a Certified Tesla Electrician install a 240-volt circuit in near proximity to the car.
Also, very popular at Level 2 is a Tesla 40A or 80A Car Charger. These require a Certified Tesla Electrician to verify that the electrical service in your home or business is adequate for these fast chargers. Once that is done, a permit may be applied for with the local building department and the installation is scheduled. Level 2 chargers are the most popular and typically require between three to six hours to top up the batteries.
The third choice, Level 3, is direct current (DC), which requires a specific vehicle port. People recognize these as Tesla Super Charging stations. One of these chargers can fill a depleted battery to approximately 85 percent in about an hour. These are rarely installed at a home, but instead can be found on the navigation screen in your Tesla.
